Darby is a New Zealand-based international design and communications practice. The practice began as Lockhart Darby in Sydney, Australia in 1989, and later established itself in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2003.

The practice partners work across brand development, web design, public relations and communications, with client projects in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States.

Anabel's communication and public relations experience spans more than 25 years in the international tourism, business events, major events, and hospitality sectors.

Prior to setting up her own company with partner Simon Darby, she was an account director with a leading Sydney-based PR agency, managing major international corporate, healthcare and travel industry clients.

Simon is a designer and creative director with over 30 years' experience in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada and the U.S. He has worked across every aspect of brand design and marketing, with some of the world's leading advertising agencies, industrial and digital designers. 

Simon is a co-founder of Dovetail X, a platform for assembling creative and tech teams to collaborate with.


Kate Darby

Kate is a skilled designer, with an Honors Degree in Design from Massey University in Wellington. Kate brings experience from outside the practice too. As part of a Wellington creative team at RESN, Kate worked as a design intern on a major US advertising campaign with international agencies.
